Eleven TNT swimmers competed at the 2019 Alabama High School Swimming and Diving Championships, held December 6 -  7 at Auburn University.  TNT swimmers had an outstanding meet, accounting for 1 Automatic All - American Qualifying Times, 2 NCSA Junior National Qualifying Times, 2 State Records, 2 Team Records, 2 Improved Time Standards, 8 First Place Finishes, and 22 Improved Times.

TNT swimmers were led by Elizabeth Chen, Trey Sheils and Kaleigh Spears, who combined for 1 All Time State Record, 2 6A - 7A State Records, 5 First Place Finishes, and were part of 3 First Place Relay Teams.























Trey Sheils, a Senior at Daphne High School, finished his All - American High School swimming career, as the most decorated and successful swimmer in Daphne High School history. This includes back to back 2018 and 2019 first place finishes in Men's 200 Individual Medley and 100 Breaststroke.  During that time, Trey has set 3 Individual All Time Alabama State High School Records, 5 State 6A - 7A records. Trey is a member of USA Swimming's Scholastic All - American Team and has signed a letter of iintent to swim at the University of Alabama.

Trey's performance at this year's AHSAA state meet includes 3 first place finishes, an All - Time State Record in the 100 Breaststroke, and a 6A - 7A State Record in the 200 Individual Medley.  He was also a member of Daphne High School's, All - Time State Record setting 400 Freestyle Relay Team. Trey's time in the 100 breastsroke, was for the second year in a row, an Automatic High School   All - American Qualifying Time.

Elizabeth Chen, a Freshman at Bayside Academy, also had an outstanding meet and was a 1A - 5A State Champion in 4 events, including the 200 Individual Medley, 100 Backstroke, 200 Medley Relay and 200 Freestyle Relay.  Elizabeth is the first female TNT swimmer, to reach the top of the podium 4 times in a single AHSAA Championship Meet, and is BA's first State Champion in the sport of swimming. Elizabeth's time in the 100 backstroke was also a National Club Swimming Association Junior National Qualifying Time.

Kaleigh Spears, a Junior at Fairhope High School, also had a great meet.  Kaleigh finished first place in the 6A - 7A Women's 100 butterfly and also had second place finishes in the 200 Individual Medley and FHS's 400 Freestyle Relay.  Kaleigh is the first State Champion in the sport of swimming from Fairhope High School, and the first TNT swimmer to win a butterfly event at the AHSAA Chmpionships. Her time in the 100 butterfly was also an NCSA Junior National Qualifying Time. 

Bayside Academy Women's 200 Medley and 200 Freestyle Relay Teams, also deserve special mention, finishing first place in the 1A - 5A 200 Medley and Freestyle Relays.  Both relays were composed almost entirely of TNT swimmers, including, Elizabeth Chen, Marlee Moore, and Grace Steele, and are the first BA relay team to reach the top of the podium at the AHSAA Swim and Dive Championships.
